St. Joseph’s Academy seeks a full-time Campus Minister who is a practicing Catholic. Primary job requirements are organizing mission trips (domestically and abroad), creating and coordinating grade-level retreats, organizing the Student Ministry program, planning liturgically appropriate prayer opportunities, planning reconciliation services and facilitating faith development in the Catholic tradition.

The successful candidate will have an understanding of the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph; experience in campus ministry or a related field; and a bachelor’s degree in Catholic Theology or a related field. St. Joseph’s Academy Campus Ministry is rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church, Gospel values and the charism of the Congregation of St. Joseph.


Full Job Description: 
Primary Responsibilities
The Campus Minister is responsible for the effective day-to-day operation of the Campus Ministry Office. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Manage the budgets of the office (retreat budget, campus ministry budget, and mission trip budget) and serve as an effective steward of the available resources.
  • Plan and lead both formational and logistical aspects of all grade-level retreats including liturgies.
    • Oversees every aspect of all major retreats within Campus Ministry including all grade-level retreats and student ministry workshop.
    • Trains and supervises student retreat leaders before and during retreats.
  • Actively plan and execute faith development opportunities, including Rosary, Reconciliation, Adoration, Bible Study, Divine Mercy Chaplet, Stations of the Cross and others as liturgical seasons dictate; may also be tasked with leading these opportunities.
    • Collaborate with Mission Advancement on the maintenance of the Chapel
  • Train, develop, and provide ongoing mentoring to student ministers.
  • Plan both logistical and formational aspects of local, out-of-state and international mission trips.
    • Serves as the coordinator and point person for both domestic and international mission trips.
    • Plans pre-trip preparation, fundraising, and the pre-trip logistical meetings for all mission trips.
    • Carefully plans all logistics and necessary risk management for all mission trips.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Operations on ensuring trips are properly insured.
  • Reach out personally to students and accompany them in their faith journey.
    • Works to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students on campus.
    • Accompanies students in a pastoral manner in keeping with the Faculty and Staff Handbook and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
    • Responds to crisis situations on campus and in our community and provides pastoral care as needed.
  • Work with the Admissions Office to ensure proper onboarding of new and transfer students.
    • During each session of Computer Orientation, the Campus Minister will coordinate a teaching mass and faith development session including an introduction to the service program.
    • The Campus Minister will meet with students who come to SJA without attending Computer Orientation.
  • Be visible and present on the school campus and at school activities including Campus Ministry events.
    • Serves on school committees where Campus Ministry needs representation.
    • Assists with special events of SJA as needed.
  • Seek resources that are supportive of student needs.
    • Collaborate with school leadership as needed.
    • Develops and maintains relationships with community partners and at other CSSJ institutions.

Qualifications
  • Must be a practicing Catholic with knowledge of and adherence to the Church’s teaching.
  • Must have experience in facilitating youth programs and relevant experience including pastoral programming, retreat planning, and service/immersion work.
  • Catechetical education/certification
  • Has inspiring communication skills, written and spoken.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be able to manage the Office of Campus Ministry’s social media presence in conjunction with the Communications Office.
  • Understanding of and willingness to learn more about the charism of the Congregation of St. Joseph.
  • Must have a willingness to contribute to the overall mission of SJA.
