St. Joseph's Academy Athletics seeks a full-time Strength and Conditioning Coach. The position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive strength and conditioning program that supports the physical, mental, and spiritual growth of all SJA student-athletes. This coach will be expected to work collaboratively with all SJA athletic teams, coaches, trainers, and administration to ensure that all programs reflect the school’s mission to form confident young women and foster excellence in competition.

The position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive strength and conditioning program that supports the physical, mental, and spiritual growth of all SJA student-athletes. This coach will be expected to work collaboratively with all SJA athletic teams, coaches, trainers, and administration to ensure that all programs reflect the school’s mission to form confident young women and foster excellence in competition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and implement age-appropriate, sport-specific strength and conditioning programs for all athletic teams.
- Create individualized training plans focused on athletic performance, injury prevention, and long-term athlete development.
- Instruct and supervise proper lifting techniques, warm-up and recovery routines, and mobility exercises to ensure safety and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with coaches and the athletic training staff to align conditioning programs with team goals, practice plans, and rehabilitation efforts.
- Educate student-athletes on nutrition, recovery, hydration, and overall wellness.
- Monitor and record training progress, testing results, and athlete performance data.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized strength and conditioning facility.
- Uphold all school, diocesan, and athletic department safety and conduct standards.
- Encourage a Christ-centered team culture that promotes character development, leadership, and mutual respect.
- Participate in athletic department meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events as assigned.
- Early mornings and evenings required depending on training calendar and sport season.
- Tentative Schedule
- 5:30AM-7:30AM – Morning Workouts
- 12:00-3:00PM – Planning Time
- 3:00-6:00PM – Afternoon Workouts
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Performance, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Current certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) required.
- USA Weightlifting (USAW) Level 1 or higher certification preferred.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.
- Minimum of two years of experience designing and implementing strength and conditioning programs, preferably at the high school or collegiate level.
- Strong understanding of female athlete development, sports physiology, and injury prevention.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education and the holistic development of young women.
- Work is performed in weight rooms, gymnasiums, and athletic facilities.
- Requires physical activity including demonstration of exercises, lifting weights, and assisting student-athletes.
- Must be able to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and during athletic events as needed.
- Exposure to both indoor and outdoor athletic environments in varying weather conditions.
